I Was Their Listener – Even When No One Listened to Me

💔 A Voice for Others While Mine Was Silenced
For four years, while I was imprisoned — abandoned by the justice system and betrayed by those I trusted — I served as a Listener with the Samaritans.
I listened to hundreds of men in the darkest moments of their lives.
I held their pain. Their silence. Their grief.
I heard things no one else could handle — and I never judged them.
And I did all this while no one would listen to me.
🔊 They Called Me a Role Model
In 2023, the Kingston branch of Samaritans wrote me a letter — not out of obligation, but out of genuine recognition.
They called me a role model.
A man who gave others hope.
A man who listened without conditions.
A man they were proud to work with.
Imagine that: while I was being painted by the CPS and police as dangerous or deceitful, a national suicide prevention charity called me a trusted voice of stability.
📚 I Didn’t Just Listen — I Taught
Alongside my work with Samaritans, I volunteered for the Shannon Trust, teaching fellow prisoners English and math.
Some of them couldn’t read a letter. Some couldn’t write their child’s name.
By the time we finished, they could write a letter home — or fill out a job application.
I didn’t do this for praise.
I did it because I know what it means to be voiceless — and I wasn’t going to let anyone else stay there.
🛑 They Tried to Break Me
While I was offering support to others:
The police refused to take my evidence
My ex-wife colluded with an officer she called her “personal policeman”
I was entrapped through a neighbor
My property was stolen, and police refused to act
And the CPS removed unreliable witnesses in silence, all to protect a narrative
But I didn’t lose my humanity.
I became stronger. More compassionate. Sharper. Quieter. More dangerous to their lies.
🔁 They Didn’t Listen — But You Can
This platform isn’t revenge.
It’s reclamation.
I was a Listener in prison.
Now I’m a witness in public.
To all the men who’ve been silenced, disbelieved, discredited, or erased —
You’re not alone.
And if no one else will hear you, I will.
Because I’ve been where you are. And I came back louder.
