💔 A Boy Named Cameron: 14 Years of Waiting

When Housing Becomes a Lifetime Sentence for Innocent Children

“My grandson went on the housing list at age 2. He has ADHD and autism. Forced to move to temporary homes 11 times and change schools 3 times. Cameron turned 16 in February. After 14 years, they finally had a home.”
Tracey, London

These words hit me like a brick wall.

Tracey’s grandson, Cameron, never broke the law. He never hurt anyone. He’s a child. An innocent boy with neurodiverse needs, shuffled through temporary accommodations like luggage — not because of anything he did, but because of how badly the system is failing families across the UK.

And it’s not just Cameron. The average wait for a council home in London is 11 years. This isn’t just a statistic. It’s a generation being raised in uncertainty, instability, and sometimes even danger — while authorities shrug and file them under “pending.”

🧩 We Are Not Alone — But We Shouldn’t Have to Be This Many

Tracey wrote, “YOU ARE NOT ALONE — JUST ONE OF MANY ON A VERY, VERY LONG LIST.”

She’s right. I’m on that list. Thousands of us are. But we shouldn’t be. Not for this long. Not when the law — the very same Housing Act that councils ignore — is supposed to protect us.

Tracey’s message reminded me why I launched this petition and this platform: to give voice to the invisible, the criminalized, the displaced — not because we did wrong, but because the system did.

✊ This Is a Movement

To Cameron, to Tracey, to every family still waiting — this fight is yours too. Every time we speak, share, or sign, we add pressure. And pressure creates cracks. Eventually, even the thickest walls will fall.

Together, we reclaim the truth. And one day, we will reclaim justice too.
