Last updated: 13 August 2025

1. Purpose

This policy outlines how Truth Reclaimed CIC raises, manages, and applies funds in accordance with our legal obligations as a Community Interest Company (CIC) and our commitment to public benefit.

2. Funding Goals

Our fundraising efforts directly support our community mission to:

  • Provide advocacy, guidance, and support to survivors of wrongful convictions and their families.

  • Deliver public education and awareness campaigns on justice reform, human rights, and accountability.

  • Produce and share survivor-led stories and research to inform the public, policymakers, and media.

  • Facilitate access to practical tools, training, and networks that empower individuals navigating legal and bureaucratic systems.

3. Use of Funds

All funds raised are subject to our CIC Asset Lock and will be reinvested solely for the benefit of the community. We will not distribute profits to members or directors. Funds may be used for:

  1. Direct Services to Survivors

    • Providing guidance, peer support networks, and referral to specialist services.

    • Producing educational resources such as guides, toolkits, and explainer videos.

  2. Community Education & Awareness

    • Hosting workshops, public events, and campaigns to raise awareness of wrongful convictions.

    • Publishing survivor stories, research reports, and digital content.

  3. Operational Costs

    • Website hosting, platform subscriptions, and software to deliver our services.

    • Staff, freelance, or volunteer expenses directly related to projects.

  4. Advocacy & Policy Engagement

    • Evidence-based research, community consultations, and non-partisan engagement with policymakers.

  5. Fundraising Activities

    • Costs of running fundraising events, online campaigns, and merchandise production.

4. Transparency & Accountability

  • We will publish annual Community Impact Reports detailing income, expenditure, and key outcomes.

  • Donors may request a breakdown of how funds from a specific campaign were allocated.

  • We will clearly state fundraising targets and intended use before launching any campaign.

5. Compliance

  • All activities and expenditure will comply with the Companies (Audit, Investigations and Community Enterprise) Act 2004, CIC Regulator requirements, and UK fundraising best practices.

  • The Company remains strictly non-partisan and will not fund political party activity.
